  • 1987

    • First prize in the Tall Structural Buildings Category of the Engineering Excellence Award by New York Association of Consulting Engineers. Presented in recognition of engineering achievements demonstrating the highest degree of skill and ingenuity and providing practice of engineering. Raffles City is the only complex outside North America to win this coveted engineering award.

      Awarded the CIDB Award for Construction Excellence in the Commercial Buildings Category by the Construction Industry Development Board of Singapore (CIDB). Jointly awarded to Ssangyong Construction Co Ltd, the main contractor for the project.

  • World Records
  • 1987

    • Set a new record in the Guinness Book of World Records for the world's longest dancing dragon. A 136.84 m (448 feet 10 inches) dragon which took 30 persons almost a month to complete and 49 persons to bring it to life in dance. The shimmering appearance of the dragon was achieved by sewing 3,000 tinkling bells with over 20,000 pieces of silver scales on its body.
