Ballo ("Dance" in Italian)

On a raised basin reflecting the skylight above and responding the overall context, six laminars are engaged in an elegant, graceful dance. The laminar technology creates a very precise and predictable parabolic stream that can be programmed to express different effects. The water expression transforms in choreography from seemingly motionless arches of water slowly morphing in elegant interplay, to a whimsical play of leaping and jumping water that rushes toward the center of basin. Occasionally the paired streams can be programmed to collide in mid-air, creating showers of water droplets that look like sparks lit from below. Ballo creates an environment in balance and equilibrium.

Momentum

A raised curvilinear basin with water jets and landscape components compliment the organic, soft geometry of the atrium area and the retail program. The design takes advantage of its specific location by addressing the verticality of the atrium space and the horizontal nature of the single-story space. The form and choreography of the water feature link the two types of spaces through dynamic expressions of momentum. There are 21 pulsating and streaming water jets that can convert from air-powered staccato pulses to aerated continuously flowing frothy water expressions, allowing the fountain to be programmed in many interpretive patterns and movements. The pulsing, individually controlled jets can chase each other by shooting water with rhythmic timing, they can be shot in groups or at the same time to make grand statement. Additionally, there are 3 air-powered jets that accentuate the higher level within the atrium space by achieving an increase in height and a full expression of momentum.

Vitality at Water Court

Vitality is a reference to the symbolic importance of the ocean and its critical relationship to all life on earth. The position and number of the wave-guide fins in the pool, the number of light fixtures and their location, the joining of the perimeter bench, the pattern in the basin's terrazzo finish, and the design of the island in the centre of the feature are all based upon the number six. Soothing rolling and rising waters evoke the ocean in a dazzling spectacle of light and water. A hexagon of fronting water maintains its geometrical form as it repeatedly expands and contracts. Six Microshooters?shoot water upwards, barely missing the escalators on the second level. This dazzling display of water in motion holds a captive audience at all hours of the day.
